Itinerary

Day 1

London

Begin your discovery of London with a city Hop-On Hop-Off tour conducted on the original London double-decker bus. Guests can choose from two routes; the first covers major attractions such as Change of Guards at Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, The London Eye, Downing Street, St. Pauls Cathedral, The Tower of London, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus with live commentary. The second route takes one through the magnificent museums of London.

Both tours include free passes to walking tours and a scenic cruise on the River Thames. During the tour, we can also visit Madame Tussauds for a photo-session with the wax celebrities; view the spectacular collection of the Crown Jewels including the Kohinoor Diamond at the Tower of London; and enjoy panoramic views of the scintillating city skyline from the luxurious comforts of a London Eye capsule. In the evening, head to Leicester Square in the heart of London, where there’s plenty to see and do – cinemas, restaurants, clubs and everything else that makes London such a vibrant city. Day 2

London

Post breakfast, the day is at leisure. Optional Excursion: You can also opt to enjoy an excursion to Windsor for a tour of Windsor Castle – the world’s largest and oldest-occupied castled and the UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Stonehenge, a set of pre-historic large stones set around a circle, which continue to mystify the world and the City of Bath, home to excellent Georgian architectural landmarks and the best preserved ancient Roman thermal spas. Day 3

London

Post breakfast, the day is at leisure. Optional Excursion: Today, you have the option of enjoying an excursion to Oxford, where you can enjoy a private tour of Christ Church College to see locations from the Harry Potter films including the Hogwarts dining hall. The excursion continues further with a drive through Cotswold, one of the most scenic areas of England, and past charming villages with thatched cottages, tea shops and ancient inns. The next stop is Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of the famous playwright William Shakespeare, where we enjoy a tour of Shakespeare’s typical Tudor-era home. Finally, we visit the Medieval Warwick Castle where we take you back 1,000 years in history to a time of bloody battles, extravagant banquets and royal ceremony. See waxwork displays from Madame Tussauds and hear the Earl of Warwick as he prepares for the battle. See the gruesome dungeons where prisoners were tortured. Overnight at London hotel.

Day 4

London – Edinburgh

Post breakfast, we take an early morning train to Edinburgh, where we are met by a car at the station and transferred to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the city on a Hop-On Hop-Off tour bus; live commentary enlivens the experience further with historical facts and related anecdotes. Edinburgh has been the Capital of Scotland since the 15th Century and stands proudly on seven hills creating a dramatic skyline.

Compare Edinburgh’s Old Town, to the elegant Georgian New Town with its three main streets and a square at either end. Hear about the hangings that took place in the Grassmarket as you marvel at the impenetrable Castle Rock and hear about the attempts to capture Edinburgh Castle. Tour highlights include the Edinburgh Castle, Palace of Holyrood House, the historic Royal Mile, which connects the two and Our Dynamic Earth. Overnight at Edinburgh hotel.

Day 5

Edinburgh

Post breakfast, the day is at leisure. Optional Excursion: After breakfast, you have the option of enjoying a tour to Loch Ness, Glen Coe and the Scottish Highlands, covering the magnificent beauty of Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, the Great Glen, Loch Ness and Pitlochry. Beginning from Edinburgh, the tour passes the Linlithgow Palace (birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots), Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument to reach the most dramatic of all Highland glens, Glen Coe – an area steeped in history with milestones including the infamous 1692 Massacre of Glen Coe. Journeying through Fort William, site of the military post built during the Jacobite Rebellions in the 18th Century, the tour continues up the Great Glen, between Fort William and Inverness.

On the way back, the tour stops at Spean Bridge before heading through the Cairngorms National Park, Creag Meagaidh and along the shores of Loch Laggan, where the TV series Monarch of the Glen was filmed. Continuing over the Drumochter Summit, where herds of red deer often graze, you’ll visit the Victorian town of Pitlochry. Overnight at Edinburgh hotel.

Day 6

Edinburgh – Glasgow

Post breakfast, we take a transfer to the railway station to continue our tour to our next stop – Glasgow. At Glasgow, we check-in at the hotel and then depart on a Hop-On Hop-Off Glasgow Bus Tour to see excellent museums, art galleries and beautiful parks. There is something for all ages in this exciting Scottish city. Overnight at Glasgow Hotel.

Day 7

Glasgow – Iverness – Glasgow

Post breakfast, we proceed on a tour to Inverness, where we explore the wilderness of Glencoe steeped in grim history and soak up the atmosphere during an afternoon walk. Spooky Loch Ness, the lair of the legendary Loch Ness Monster is close by and is well worth a visit. Return to Glasgow; overnight at Glasgow hotel.

Day 8

Glasgow

Today, we enjoy a walk in Glen Affric, whose scenic vistas take you back 500 years to the glory of Scotland’s Caledonian Pine Forest. Enjoy photo opportunities of the stronghold of Urquhart Castle and lunch at Loch Ness. Return to Glasgow; overnight at Glasgow hotel

Day 9

Glasgow – Departure

APost breakfast, we take the transfer to the airport for the flight back home or onward journey.
